When @Catarina_Macario stepped onto the pitch on Sunday, it signalled the end of a 641-day journey.
For 21 months, Cat has worked tirelessly on her recovery from a serious knee injury which she sustained in her final match with Lyon in 2022
This same injury has prohibited the USA international from representing Chelsea since signing last summer.
"To say that this journey has been the most challenging period of my life has been an understatement," she said.
After months of rehabilitation, Cat proudly made her Chelsea debut as a 72nd-minute substitute against Leicester City on Sunday. Six minutes later, she scored her first goal.
"Last night made every single struggle and hardship worth it," said
Cat. "I feel so blessed to be part of this special team and club."
Her triumphant return is testament to her character and a reward for her determination shown in those difficult times. Well done Cat, everyone is so proud.
