Unrequited Love’s Whispers

Unrequited love is both simple and complex.
It’s the thrill when you see their name on your screen,
The longing to hear their voice, to be their comfort.
You want to be cherished in return.

That’s love, right?

But unrequited love is different.
It demands silence,
A quiet heart,
And a retreat into the shadows.
You hold back, unnoticed,
Suppressing the urge to be their rock.

You wait—
Silent, still, hoping for a moment that may never come.
It’s madness.
You care deeply,
Yet you smother it all,
Dreading the weight of being seen.

You give yourself the love you crave,
But remind yourself that they are not yours.
Still, on lonely nights,
You dream of shared laughter,
Of a love that feels mutual.

The rush of joy fills you,
But when the morning comes,
Reality settles in.
You are the lover,
And to them, just another face in the crowd.

“Let go,” they say.
But how do you let go
When your heart refuses to?
If it were easy, we’d all do it.

Unrequited love—the ache of holding on,
And the difficulty of letting go.
